1980年三重県四日市市生まれ。広島大学にて博士（理学）の学位を取得。物質・材料研究機構（NIMS）研究員、東京大学地球生命圏科学グループ研究員、原子力規制庁技術基盤グループ技術研究調査官を経て、2020年よりサイエンスコミュニケーション事業を開始。2024年より株式会社地学舎代表取締役。

Profile and biography
Science communicator who conveys intellectual and stimulating fun through earth science. While dealing with cutting-edge and specialized topics, he believes in “explaining things to adults in terms that junior high school students can understand”. His earth science web media, Easy Science of Geological Wonders, is used by a wide range of age groups, and is enjoyed not only by adult readers, but also by junior high school students and high school students who are not good at science.
Born in Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture, Japan. He grew up under the tutelage of his father, a public junior high school principal and former math teacher, and aspired to be a teacher from an early age. After graduating from high school, he engaged in research on earth science at Hiroshima University, which has been the headquarters of pedagogy as a liberal arts and science university since before World War II, and graduated at the top of his class in the Faculty of Science.
In parallel with his research, he also completed a teaching course and obtained a teaching license, but decided to become a researcher and went on to graduate school. D. in Geology at the age of 27, and has held research positions at the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), the University of Tokyo’s Earth and Biosphere Science Group, the Japan Nuclear Energy Safety Organization (JNES), and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission of the Ministry of the Environment.
After teaching for three years, he started his own business as a science communicator in 2020, managing the web media “Easy Science of Geological Wonders,” distributing videos on YouTube (in Japanese only), writing and supervising books, and taking geological photos. He also participates in the educational support business of Cyber University, a fully online university of the Softbank Group.
His hobbies include traveling alone while taking photographs and visiting bakeries. He won the “Fuji Photo Salon Newcomer Award 2006”. Traveling exhibition in Tokyo, Osaka and Fukuoka (2006-2007). Loves paper books.
